By first presenting a body of work in a traditional art show format, then inviting attendees the opportunity to become the next body of work by participating in a nude photoshoot, my intention is to turn our perception back on ourselves in order to reflect & reevaluate the stories we’ve been conditioned to believe about ourselves and others bodies.
“I envision this project growing city by city, country by country, as wave after wave of people rise up to strip down in the name of self-liberation, rebirth, and claiming ones personal power through art. ”
THEMOVEMENT
VIEW THE WORK → BECOME THE WORK → VIEW YOURSELF ~AS~ THE WORK
VIEW THE WORK: A PORTAL
The previous installation is presented at the Opening Night art show along with other local performance art surrounding the topic of self/body image. This gathering acts as ‘the portal’ to THEMOVEMENT, intended to support the discovery of one’s ‘inner art’.
Opening Night is a ‘choreographed’ event designed to inspire self-reflection on self/body image
“Photographing 100 people at a time magnifies the experience to something beyond ourselves, allowing the amount of societal conditioning and pressure we all feel about the way we look to be processed, healed, and transmuted, much more effectively. It neutralizes the charge around nudity in such a way that it becomes simply what it is — our bodies.”
become the work: the shoot week container
This experience is crafted for both intimate individuality and deep connectivity within THEMOVEMENT in order to provide a supportive environment in which to collectively navigate a personal journey that is, at its core, ultimately greater than ourselves.
As a participant, the intention for each photoshoot is to honor the vessel of your most essential form, while connecting you with your inner light so that you might experience true embodiment of your beloved incarnation
a sacred space to embody your ‘ART’
“By each person showing up to participate with all of their ‘flaws and blemishes and perceived imperfections’ they’re immediately creating space for others to belong, therefore contributing to a more inclusive ‘image’ of humanity.”
view yourself ~as~ the work: a closing night rebirth
By gathering participants and their circle of people together to view their images ~for the first time~ at the invite only Closing Night event, the intention is to create a space to collectively heal all misconceptions and projections around the human body.
transformation through self-reflection
“We all felt something really special that night. It was a sense of belonging and power that I hope every woman has the chance to experience in her lifetime.”
THEMOVEMENT
With each body of work linked to the previous and forthcoming installation through this format — marked by a Fine Art Photo Book that features all participants and their stories — the hope is to give folks from all walks of life the opportunity to connect with the nude form in a way that is
